BRG is highly exposed to direct contact on both inner and surfaces during installation and daily operation. It is a minor problem in the outer surface because this is normally made of glass, which is a very hard material and therefore very resistant to abrasion. However, it may be a critical problem in the inner surface in compositions where this is not made of glass; in this case the resist in this case the resistance to abrasion reached becomes highly important. |

The most common and accepted test to measure the abrasion RESISTANCE is called TABER TEST ( ASTM-1044 / ISO 3575), in which a wheel made of certain material and supporting a Known mass, is rotated in friction a specific number of revolutions over the measured surface. This friction causes ware on the material resulting in a level haze (opacity) which is proportional to the reduction in the ablility of the material to transmit visible light. |
